Burgess, Elder Law and Special Needs Attorney, is a lifelong Kansas City Northland resident.  She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, Missouri with a B.S. in Psychology in 1980.  In 1983 she received her Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  In 1987 she graduated from the University Of Missouri- Kansas City School Of Law.

Ms. Burgess’ practice areas include Elder Law, Medicaid Planning and Medicaid Applications, Estate Planning and Asset Protection, Special Needs Planning and Trusts, Guardianships and VA Benefits.  She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, (NAELA), the Missouri Chapter of NAELA, and the NAELA section of  Special Needs Law.  She was the first member of Western Missouri in the Academy of Special Needs Planners.   

Ms. Burgess currently serves on Board of Directors for the Missouri Chapter of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and serves as the Communications Chairperson of the Missouri Bar Elder Law Committee.  She previously served on Board of Director’s for Triality, Inc., a not-for-profit agency that provides day habilitation services for adults with mental and physical disabilities.  Triality also provides therapy, education and child care for children with developmental disabilities. In addition, she serves as a volunteer attorney for Kansas City Hospice.

Ms Burgess serves all of the metropolitan Kansas City Missouri area, and northwest Missouri, including Clay, Platte, Jackson, Ray, Cass, Buchannan, Andrew, and Clinton Counties.   

Christine Silkett, is a lifelong northwest Missouri resident.  She graduated from Missouri Western State University in 1980 with a degree in business.  Ms. Silkett was a small business owner in St. Joseph Missouri for 18 years.  In recent years she has owned a residential management company in Kansas City North.  She is the firm’s office manager and legal assistant.  Ms. Silkett is committed to providing prompt and courteous attention to all of our clients’ needs. 

Kristi Morelock, is a lifelong Kansas City resident.  She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1980 with a degree in Sociology.  Ms. Morelock is a volunteer with Kansas City Hospice, providing respite relief for care takers of hospice patients.  In addition, Ms. Morelock volunteers with  Youth Friends in the northland.  She is the firm’s Care Coordinator for the Kansas City area, and is committed to helping families with compassionate and professional service.

Carol Birkey has lived in the northland her entire life.  This Liberty-based professional has been self-employed for 30+ years as a Virtual Office Assistant for small businesses and as a “mobile” Notary Public.  She was involved with the First Step Fund Program through the Kauffman Foundation for 10 years and volunteered at the Shepherd Center, Clay County Women’s Exchange and Liberty Chamber of Commerce.  She is the firm’s Marketing Ambassador for the Kansas City area.

Carrie Kennedy-Wampler, is a lifelong resident of Andrew and Buchanan counties.  She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, Missouri with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1974.  In 1994 she received a Masters degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University.  Mrs. Kennedy taught elementary age students for 27 years in Northwest Missouri and then substitute taught four more years.  While teaching she was a member of MSTA.  She was active in the local CTA such as member of salary committee for many years, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President twice.  As a retired teacher she is a member of MRTA.  Mrs. Kennedy-Wampler will be serving Northwest Missouri as the firm’s Marketing Ambassador.
